Would you know Australia’s leading Real Estate Agencies, if you were asked to pick 30 of them? BRW did and published their Top Australian Agencies.
Here, we put them to the online performance test with NLYZR.

UPDATE:
Harcourts launched a new site around the time this post was made and made us aware of it via comment below. We have run the site through NLYZR too and its scored 60.2/100 which would have ranked 15th on this list.
2ND UPDATE:
Barry Plant Real Estate have been assessed by NLYZR now and scored 77/100 which would have ranked them 9th on this list.

I was interested why the harcourts website did not make the top 30?
In Nov 2009 we released our new website with Social media and SEO structure.

The real estate NLYZR scores were done in late November 09 based on a list published in BRW Magazine some time earlier. We’ll happily assess Harcourts and add to the list this week.
Interesting list, however not accurate.
Our company is the largest residential real estate franchise group in Victoria, 75 offices, by far the highest turnover, Ray White are second in Victoria. Stockdale and Leggo are probably third.
Our company is at least 8 times the tunover of Philip Webb, whereas W.B. Simpson is a highly respected boutique agency, one or two offices. More accurate research is needed before publishing a list like this and then referring to it in an industry magazine. Can be very misleading. Regards Barry.

The list is taken from BRW. We then rank the websites they publish. From our point of view its not a ranking of the biggest / best firms in the industry….its an appraisal of the websites in the industry.

I am wondering how you base you criteria. I just took the Davey Evans Real Estate site and did a rank check on the suburbs they represent. One suburb ranks #9 and the rest are not on the first page of Google. I SEO a number of sites and they all rank 1-2 with the exception of one site that ranks 4. Yet no mention of any of these in the top 30.
Peter – we took a list of agencies from BRW Magazine and then rated their websites. We tested them all against the same keyword search too. Its an overall appraisal of the optimisation of these sites.
Has anyone seen the current ranking? I’m interested to know how these real estate agencies ranked today especially that Google has update its algo with regards to local search engine results.
